The man that was TWO
This is a rather sad story, but there are soo many people living like this poor man, that I thought it would be good to tell his story, and I hope that someone will be touched by it...
I knew Peter when he was a boy, at that time, he seemed like any other boy of his age. At home, he was kind and helpful. In the mornings, he went to school and in the afternoons he would normally wash cloths, feed the animals and help his father in the garden. But I knew him for only a short time, because his family moved away, and I seemed to lose all contact with them but some years later Peter moved back~~ I somehow expected to see the same little boy that I had known many years earlier, but time had turned that boy that I knew into a man or rather a stranger that I would never have recognized as little Peter. Time had not changed his kind attitude or altered his friendly face , but in his eyes, I could see a hidden sadness, it was almost as if something was beating him down. I saw a sorrow so deep and so real that ever his smiles and laughter couldn't change the deep set expression on his face.
"Peter! Is that really you? You have grown so much!! this was my first greating to him.
"I want you to meet my son Johnny" Peter said as he brought forward a boy about three years old.
The little boy was a perfect mixture of his father and mother, he clearly had his fathers eyes and he had his moter's mouth and dark hair ~ they seemed like a lovely family.
"And what brings you bavk here, Peter? I asked slowly.
"Well, nothig seemed to be goimg right back there, and last year when all of my crops failed, I started thinking about where I grew up and how nice things were here, you might say I got a little home~sick" his voice sounded tense and embarrased as he spoke.
_~~ Then it happened, it was somethimg so unexpected that I felt stunned for a moment, and I wished I hadn't asked the question.
(Poor Peter was like so many men that you meet, He wasn't ONE but rather TWO, at the end of the story you will understand what I mean, and you will realize that you know many people like him.)
...Before Peter had barely finished his sentence, his mouth opened back up and said forcefully, "The crops failed because you didn't water them faithfully!!"
Peter's face flushed and he quickly answered back, " Father was sick and I had to help him, I only missed watering the garden a few days ~ thats not why the crops failed!!" Just as he finished saying this, his mouth opened back up and said, " But what about that day that you forgot to open the greenhouse and all of the plants burned up in the heat?"
Then Peter tightly closed his mouth and muttered, " I am not going to talk about this right now!"
All at once I understood Peter's sad eyes, and I felt sorry for him.
( Dear reader, if you think that Peter is insane, you are wrong... He is not insane, he is TWO, yes, instead of one person in harmony and agreement, Peter is TWO. )
We talked for a few minutes, and then said goodbye. I was so surprised by what I had seen that I wanted to leave as quickly as possible, and so I went home, BUT the reader is going to go home with poor Peter...
" You always embarrass me!!" Peter said in exasperation, as the family entered the house. But his mouth did not open to make a response, and so there was a bitter silence in the house for a time, until Peter looked across the room and saw a mountain of dirty laundry, "You didn't wash my shirt! Look! It is filthy, and what am I going to wear tomorrow??" As Peter spoke, he glared down at his hand, " You always accuse me of failing! But what about you? I can't count on you for anything!" Peter's hand moved as far away from him as it could, and Peter was so angered that he would have surely 'cut it from him' if he could have. Peter then sighed deeply, as if he was trying to push out some of the frustration inside of him, but this didn't work. A few hours passed, and Peter had barely spoken a word, outside the sun was shinning brightly, but no light of hope was shining in on this house, there seemed to be no hope for the man that was TWO. If he thought one thing, then his mind would fill up with thoughts to contradict him, and constantly, his thoughts were brought to all of his failings and shortcomings. If anything bad happened, his mind would say that it was all his fault. In public, his mouth would turn into his greatest enemy, no one could compliment him, without a negative response coming from his mouh. And if you watched him, you would think that no one disliked him more than he disliked himself. There was a constant fight, for example, if Peter told his hand to pick something up, he knew that it would resist and give hundreds of reasons why it 'couldn't be done' why it was 'too hard' or why it was a 'bad idea'. truely, Peter was TWO....
But what does that mean?? How is that possible??
Let me explain it, Peter was married, and his wife was the mouth, hand, foot, or whatever other part that you can think of that was against him.
>> Therefore shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall cleave unto his wife, and they shall become ONE flesh. Genesis 2:24
>> Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to theirown husbands in EVERYTHING. Ephesians 5:24
But Peter and his wife were not ONE, they were TWO.
Rules for Godly married women
Do you ever argue with yourself? Or say something on purpose to make yourself look inadequate? No! No one does because no one is ever against themselves, no ne injures themself, and if two become one then how can there be any strife?
1. Any thought thatenters my mind that I don't agree with... is dismissed. I don't expect or want to see or consider it again. So also a wife must consider her plans as a small insignificant 'thought' that can easily and happily be ignored if her husband doesn't agree with it.
2. When your husband asks you to do something, don't stop and think if it is fair or smart enough for you to obey, you must realize that this is the lord's will for your lifebecause the Lord commands wives to be submissive in everything. Even a kingdom great and strong, wouldn't last long if the king's servants weren't perfectly loyal to hi. If the king had to fight and argue to have his will done, soon no one in the kingdom would want to obey him.It is the same in a family, if the wife doesn't respect and obey her husband, the children rise up rebellious.
3. Never laugh or mock your husband or point out mistakes that he has made.
4. Never act disinterested or unconcerned with what is important to him. Don't make faces to show that you are bored or irritatedby what he is saying.
5. Don't say NO when he is sayimg YES.
6. Don't give negative respose quickly to some plan or idea that your husband has made, and only if it is absolutly necessary can you quietly hint that you don't agree~ being perfectly willing for this to be refuted.
7. Don't let yourself focus or think about how your husband did something that you don't think was fair or right ~like breeding disease this breeds trouble. Everyone can make a mistake, forgive him as quickly as you would forgive yourself when you make a mistake. Do you think for hours and hours about how wrong and mean and unkind you were?? Or don't you think, " I didn't mean to do that or say that, I'm sorry." and then thats the end of it.
8. Never allow a competitive spirit. Don't ever try to appear better or smarter than your husband. Don't point out an area that you were right and he was wrong. Don't say, "See! I told you!" ONE person never tries to be better than themself! That is impossible and if you are truly one with your husband then you won't want to be better than him, that is not love.
